Gibraltar Mine, Naica , Saucillo Municipality, Chihuahua , Mexico

In the center you can see an exposed Smoky Quartz, which is covered with micor crystals of spessartine and one large crystal attached to the end-points. Rare material from South Africa! The crystal shows a rare habit - a so called "Ochsenauge", this habit is a octahedron with convex edges, this habit was found only at half a dozen localities world-wide - most famous von Schönbrunn, Germany, also known from Barjatia, Russia and from New Mexico, USA. For the locality probably unique. The crystals shows red iron-inclusions and blue color tones when backlit. It is resting on a partly crystalized Quartz. Ex Robert Brandstetter coll.
