PN32 - Fluorite - SOLD
Gotthardtunnel, Uri / Tessin, Switzerland
Size: 16.8 x 8.5 x 4.5 cm

What a major classic alpine specimen! This piece comes from the Gotthardtunnel, dug in the 1970s of last century. A composite cluster of large fluorite octahedrons to 5.0 cm across is resting on a floater matrix of chlorite included fluorites. Associated minerals are quartz (on back side) and a fine cluster of green apophyllites perched on top right side. The entire specimen is actually a complete floater and has no points of attachment or contact. the colour of the fluorites is quite unusual and more on the yellowish/orange side than one would expect from a swiss locality. Note how well the back side is crystallized also! Probably the best specimen recovered from this pocket and indeed an alpine masterpiece!

A412 - Gold - SOLD
Cavnic Mine (Kapnik), Cavnic (Kapnic; Kapnik), Maramures Co., Romania
Size: 7 x 5.9 x 4 cm

A thick mass of gold flakes perched on quartz matrix. The gold body is minimum 1 cm thick on all sides and almost completely covers the quartz matrix. Sphalerites set a nice accent on top. The entire piece is firm and sturdy, the gold leaves are well connected by intergrown quartz crystals. One of the very best gold specimens I have ever seen from Cavnic!

Grube Vater Abraham, Lauta, Marienberg District, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany
Size: 6.1 x 5.1 x 3.3 cm

Superb, sharp and large proustite crystals in a composite cluster group! The colour is pure deep red gem when backlight from top to the very bottom of the specimen! Note that only a part of the crystals were backlight for this picture. Minor chipping is present on a side crystal, but the damage is easily forgivable considering the size, the impact and the historical importance of that specimen. Truly a masterpiece from this old German locale! Ex Hubert de Monmonier collection.
