IT33 - Malachite ps. Azurite - SOLD
Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia
Size: 10 x 7.3 x 4.8 cm

This is a gret, classic pseudomorph from Tsumeb. Malachite replaced azurite in two stages, resulting in two very different green hues within the shape of the azurite crystals. Quite big parts of bayldonite serve as a matrix and add another shade of green. The main crystal in the center measures 4.8 x 3.7 cm and sets a clear focus for the eye. The smaller crystals on the sides bring out the size and predominant position of the large one in the center. A very well balanced piece, which is in great condition, too.

A wonderful combination of epidote, andradite garnet, diopside and clinochlore. The epidote is predominating on this piece, which is quite unusual for that locality. It has a clear and sharp tabular form, great luster and even some gemminess along the edges. The garnets are extremely lustrous, and set a nice contrast. Great composition. Better in person!
