Alpine Minerals #7

A317 - Scheelite - SOLD
Söllnkar, Krimmler Achental, Hohe Tauern, Pinzgau, Salzburg, Austria
Size: 3.1 x 2.1 x 1.8 cm

This is a very fine etched scheelite from the Austrian alps. Possibly less than 20 scheelites have been recovered at this remote locality, and this is an excellent sample featuring the distinct etching patterns, as well as small epidote and byssolite inclusions. Floater piece, no damage.

SB32 - Faden Quartz - SOLD
Val Cavrein, Graubünden, Switzerland
Size: 13.2 x 8.9 x 4.6 cm

WOW! What a killer faden quartz from the alps! The crystal is thick and sturdy, not fragile as most of these, but still clear and highly lustrous. The faden is exceptionally well formed and widens up to the top. Excellent shape and condition!

A115 - Titanite - SOLD
Bruchgraben, Hollersbachtal, Pinzgau, Salzburg, Austria
Size: 11.1 x 8.9 x 4.1 cm

Two 2.9 and 2.3 cm tall titanite crystals sitting on a very beautiful typical alpine matrix! A few dozen small Apatites and pseudo-cubic calcites are in association and provide a wonderful contrast. The titanites have razor-sharp edges, there is one small chip on the tip of the main titanite crystal, but it goes fully to the back side and is not noticable from the front viewing angle.

KN03 - Brookite ps. Sphene - SOLD
Erlbachalm, Amertal, Felbertal, Pinzgau, Salzburg, Austria
Size: 6.8 x 2.3 x 2.1 cm

This is a super-rare pseudomorph. Brookite fully substituted titanite! The biggest crystal from this find, and possibly also the best of its kind found in the alps. Ex Norbert Kammerlander collection.

PN25 - Iron Rose - SOLD
Monte Prosa, Prevat Valley, Central St Gotthard Massif, Tessin, Switzerland
Size: 4.5 x 2.7 x 2.1 cm

Great miniature featuring sharp crystals and wonderful iridescence!

A510 - Epidote with Apatite - SOLD
Knappenwand, Untersulzbachtal, Pinzgau, Salzburg, Austria
Size: 4.5 x 3.1 x 1.8 cm

This is a superb combination miniature featuring both apatite and epidote in equally fine crystals. The presence of both species on one specimen is very rare at this locality, and highly balanced specimens like this are very uncommon and exceedingly hard to obtain. Possibly less than a dozen have been found in 150 years of mining. No damage on front side.

ZF07 - Iron Rose - SOLD
Mörchnerkar, Zemmgrund, Zillertal, Tirol, Austria
Size: 6.2 x 5.3 x 4.8 cm

Nice ironrose cluster on mica matrix. No damage.

XY58 - Smoky Quartz - SOLD
Wiesbachrinne, Habachtal, Pinzgau, Salzburg, Austria
Size: 8 x 4.5 x 3.5 cm

Stunning doubly-terminated smoky quartz crystal with one sidecar. Small anatases are present on the termination faces. No damage.

XY54 - Milarite - SOLD
Fieschergletscher, Berner Alpen, Wallis, Switzerland
Size: 4.5 x 2.2 x 1.3 cm

Excellent milarite cluster with attached bavenite balls. The crystal has indeed very remarkable size and is one of the finest I have ever seen for sale. No damage.

XY66 - Iron Rose - SOLD
Mörchnerkar, Zemmgrund, Zillertal, Tirol, Austria
Size: 5.3 x 5.2 x 4.5 cm

WOW!!! What a killer specimen! A wonderful 4 cm hematite is perched on adularia and mica matrix. One of the most aesthetic alpine ironroses i have ever seen! GORGEOUS in person!

A477 - Sphene - SOLD
Frosnitztal, East Tyrol, Austria
Size: 5.1 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm

Superb titanite specimen from the Austrian alps! 2 sharp and super-glossy twinned titanites rest on a calcite and chlorite matrix, one lying and one standing upright in the center. Both have excellent quality and no damage. Both of them show an amazing colour change from predominating brown and yellow hues in natural daylight to a deeply glowing orange tones in warm artificial light. The crystal in the center is gemmy and so incredibly brilliant, it is indeed amazing in person! Collected 2006. I consider this cutie the best specimen from the pocket. What a superb piece!
